◆Raw stocks for dry non-woven fabrics

Viscose rayon is widely used as the principal material of dry non-woven fabrics for extensive applications from living materials to industrial materials as viscose rayon has excellent water-absorbing property and a texture gentle to the skin. We have various types of products based on different methods for producing non-woven fabrics, such as a spun lace, needle punch, chemical bond, and thermal bond. Our products satisfy the specific needs of customers, with our stable quality and supply.

◆Raw stocks for wet non-woven fabrics

 Viscose rayon for wet non-woven fabrics is applied in various fields as it has excellent water-dispersibility, higher hydrophilic property than wood pulp, and different thicknesses and lengths adjustable for applications.
As cellulose is dissolved in a solvent once, functional agents can easily be kneaded into the fibers. For this reason, various functions can be imparted.
In addition, as viscose rayon emits no toxic gas even during combustion and is easily degradable in soil, it is an environment-friendly material.

◆Raw stocks for spinning

The raw stocks of viscose rayon are widely used for various types of blended yarns as they are highly compatible with natural fibers and synthetic fibers.
Various fineness cut lengths are available to satisfy the customer requests for woolen spinning as well as for cotton spinning, 2-inch spinning, and air-jet spinning.
Recently we have been focusing on developing functional raw stocks and producing various types of products, such as those with functions imparted by kneading, fineness, and modified cross-sections.

◆Spun rayon yarns

Pure spun rayon yarns are widely used in the material, interior, apparel, and other fields.
We make efforts to stabilize the quality and supply by entrusting all the spinning processes of our viscose rayon raw stocks to one spinning mill.
In addition, our various types of functional viscose rayon are combined with the multi-product, small-lot-sized production of Daiwabo Spintec CO.,LTD. and its advanced blend spinning technology.
With this combination, we develop, manufacture, and sell functional yarns.

Functionality material

◆“Photocatalytic viscose rayon”

1. What is photocatalysis?

When a photocatalyst is exposed to light from the sun or a fluorescent lamp, a large oxidizing power is generated on its surface. This power can remove organic compounds, bacteria, and other harmful substances that are brought into contact with the photocatalyst.
The four effects listed below may occur.
(1) Deodorizing effect: eliminating living and smoking odors
(2) Antifouling effect: preventing adhesion of smoking tar and oil
(3) Air purifying effect:decomposing exhaust gas, SOx, and NOx
(4) Water purifying effect:decomposing chlororganic compounds, such as trihalomethane

2. What are the features of the fiber?

We have kneaded photocatalytic ceramics into viscose rayon fibers by using special technology, and developed highly safe, antibacterial viscose rayon that exerts antibacterial effects when it is exposed to light (from the sun or a fluorescent lamp).
The features of the fiber are as follows:
(1)Excellent antibacterial effect at an illuminance of 200 lx*
(2)Verified capability of eliminating the odor of acetaldehyde, one of the components of smoking odor
(3)Decomposition and elimination of smoking tar
(4)Ensured high safety as it is made from ceramics
(5)No deterioration of fibers caused by photocatalysis
(6)Excellent washing resistance as the photocatalyst is kneaded.
(7)No restrictions imposed on its process as the physical properties of the fibers are similar to those of regular viscose rayon
*It is difficult to express the illuminance in words. According to JIS, a luminance of 200 lx is almost equal to the brightness in a dining room, bathroom, lavatory or washroom.

3. What are the effects of the fiber?

Even under a fluorescent lamp, the growth of the bacteria on the fibers is inhibited and the antibacterial, deodorizing, bacteriostatic effects are exhibited.

Also in PANACEA blended with regular rayon, under a fluorescent lamp, the growth of the bacteria on the fibers is inhibited and the antibacterial, deodorizing, bacteriostatic capabilities are exhibited.

It is verified that the photocatalytic effect has eliminated the odor from acetaldehyde, one of the substances generating bad odor.

 

◆“Flame-retardant viscose rayon”

Many products featuring flame-retardant capability are available on the market. We produce a flame-retardant fiber that contains flame-retardant agents kneaded in cellulose fibers. As the agents are kneaded at the viscose stage, this product has excellent washing resistance (sustainable flame-retardant capability). In addition, since flame-retardant capability is imparted to cellulose, this product is an environmentally-friendly material.

1. Features

(1)The flame-retardant agents are kneaded at the viscose stage.
*The flame-retardant capability is sustainable even after washing.
*In general, products to which flame-retardant capability is imparted by post-treatment have hard textures. For this flame-retardant viscose rayon, its texture is not affected.

(2)The amount of fumes is smaller than those of other fibers. In the event of a fire, harmful gases, such as cyanogen, are not generated.
Furthermore, in this product, the flame-retardant capability is achieved without the use of halogens. For this reason, no harmful gases derived from halogen elements are generated during combustion.

(3)Since this product is based on cellulose, the methods of disposal after use are similar to those of general cotton products. No special treatment is necessary.

(4)When this product is blended with other materials, the conditions for manufacturing regular viscose rayon are applicable. The flame retardance of this product and the drape property and water-absorbing property inherent in viscose rayon can be imparted.

2. Flame-retardant capability

(1)Limited Oxygen Index (LOI): 28

(2)Accepted by the tests conducted by the 45 micro burner method and 45 methenamine method

The flame retardance varies with the forms after treatment (woven, knitted, and non-woven fabrics), structures, masses per unit area, and thicknesses. Prior to actual use, tests should be conducted in the environment in which the product is to be used.

3. Safety

The flame-retardant agents in use are organic phosphorous compounds containing no halogen.

4. Prevention of secondary burn

When cloth made of general synthetic fibers is brought near a fire, the fibers melt and liquefy, and a hole is formed. Then, molten fibers drip onto other fibers. If the molten fibers come into contact with the skin, the skin is burnt. Furthermore, the molten fibers are very hot and strongly adhere to the skin, which leads to deeper burns. By contrast, in a cloth made of this flame-retardant viscose rayon, the fibers are carbonized and retain the shape of the cloth and cause no further burns.

 

◆“Multi-functional viscose rayon”

pH controlled to slight acidity gentle on the skin

Even when blended with synthetic fibers, this product maintains its pH-controlling function.
Data - the fiber: polyester and polyethylene = 30:70

Deodorizing capability

The fiber exerts an excellent effect of eliminating the odor from ammonia included in five bad odors (sweat odor, stale odor, excretion odor, smoking odor, and garbage odor), and the odor from formaldehyde, one of the VOCs.

Moisture-absorbing/releasing properties

The moisture retention of the fiber is higher than that of cotton, natural cellulose.

Safety of the fiber

We select the functional agents, considering the safety during use.
